At the American Lung Association, we’re fighting for everyone’s right to breathe healthy air.  We’ve just released our 10th annual State of the Air report. This report card grades the air quality in 1,000 counties across the country—helping you learn what’s lurking in your local air. The more you learn about the air you breathe, the more you can protect your health and take steps to make our air cleaner and healthier.

The State of the Air: 2009 uses data from state air quality monitors to grade the most widespread air pollutants that can damage your health—ozone and particle pollution . We’ve also compiled lists of the top 25 most polluted cities-- and the cleanest. Our special website lets you type in your zip code to quickly find your local grades, but it also does much more. Stateoftheair.org is a quick place to learn how air pollution affects your health, how to protect your family, and most importantly, what you can do to fight for healthy air.
